SITE SURVEY

My chosen site is Conquest House or 17 Palace Street in Canterbury. Due to Covid-19 and being in a lockdown for the majority of the year, I was unable to get access into my chosen building and was unable to find any existing architectural drawings. Luckily, the property was up for sale and there was a virtual tour so my drawings have been created using the video – which has been a challenge! I have attempted to make my drawings as accurate to the existing property as possible. The rich history of the building along with the look and style of the property is what has attracted me to Conquest House.

Ephemeral Poster Conquest House

The ephemeral poster takes inspiration from my timeline and focuses on the historical value of the property as well as the surrounding history of Canterbury. It shows the story of the feud between Thomas Beckett and the current King of England at the time. It also highlights the connection that Conquest House has with the story, being the house where the murder of Thomas Beckett was plotted.
